I haven’t been to Rome since college and have been dying to go back for ages. So, for my birthday this year Husby and I decided to take two days away to enjoy the Eternal City. Where to stay was a no-brainer! If there’s a Dorchester Collection hotel somewhere that’s where I’m staying, so we booked the Hotel Eden, and took an early BA flight on Saturday morning.

Located just a stone’s throw from the Spanish Steps, the Hotel Eden was gorgeously decked out for Christmas. We went straight to the rooftop bar and restaurant, La Terrazza dell’Eden, where we had a cocktail and a snack overlooking the beautiful city. The staff was so welcoming and went out of their way to spoil me the second they found out it was my birthday.

We spent the weekend exploring the city, and eating…. a lot. Apart from the Hotel Eden, which had the most delicious spaghetti bolognese I’ve ever eaten in my life, we dined at Aroma Restaurant (located in the Palazzo Manfredi Hotel), that has incredible views overlooking the coliseum, and went to Le Jardin de Russie for dinner which was delicious. Continuing on the topic of eating, I also highly recommend leaving your diet at the door, and finding a local pizza restaurant.

After battling the crowds, we also had a very cool life moment, and heard the Pope speak in St Peters Square, which was such an incredible thing to be apart of.

Of course, as it was a celebratory occasion, a little bit of shopping had to be done. I’ve wanted a satin knot clutch from Bottega Veneta for AGES, and so my main purchase involved me deliberating over all of the gorgeous colors in the store. In the end, I want simple and chic with black, which I know is going to get a TON of use. Major points for the Husband on that one.

It was pretty much the best birthday weekend ever. A huge thanks again to everyone at the Hotel Eden for a wonderful weekend.
