{Fashion Friday} Chandler Carr Cleans Out Bicester Village

Today’s Fashion Friday Post is courtesy of Chandler Carr, a fellow AG, who has her own fantastic fashion-focused blog, Hot Coffee with A Straw

Ten days ago I went on an exploration, not only venturing outside the circumference of Chelsea, but past the London City Limits. Boarding a train at Marylebone Station, I made the pilgrimage, seemingly having become mandatory for English fashionistas, and knowing visitors to the area. Bicester Village, a mere 40-minute train journey away, greeted me with chilling winds and spitting snow. Did that stop me from shopping? Goodness no! I’m a professional after all…

In fact, I shopped (with my mother by my side) till we both nearly dropped. In Bicester you will discover last season’s product at a significantly reduced price… so, needless to say, you certainly feel that you’re getting the greatest “bang for your buck”. You’ll see all of the big names, and many of the smaller ones too. I found items that I simply “couldn’t live without” at places ranging from L.K. Bennett, to Lulu Guinness; Burberry to Cath Kidston; and even bought my dad’s birthday gift well in advance at Tod’s. But, where did I really clean up? Smythson. They carry in Bicester Village all of the current styles in colors which the company has retired, and even some styles that have been replaced, as well. (read: covers for outdated phones, kindles, etc. – if you can’t seem to give up that blackberry, and want to stay chic – this is the place to go.)

{Shopping} Donna Ida Debuts Newly Designed Denim Destination

Donna Ida has revamped her Chelsea boutique, and she invited me to her “big breakfast” today to take a look. Along with debuting the new look of the store, Donna was highlighting her denim clinic and swears that with her massive selection and expertise, you can find your perfect pair of jeans in 30 minutes. So of course, I wanted to take her up on the challenge.

I had been wanting to try on a pair of Donna’s own jeans- IDA, so I brought a few pairs into the dressing room after chatting with her about the type of fit I like. The first pair I tried were the total winner, and when I stepped out of the dressing room one of Donna’s colleagues was ready to pin them to be hemmed. So yes- the Donna Ida Denim Clinic works like a charm. It gets better…the hemmed jeans will be ready by tomorrow!

{Fashion Friday} Wedding Season Fashion Prep

This is a big wedding year for the American Girl family. In addition to my best friend getting married (meaning I am the MOH, and my little people are flower girl and ring bearer), Mini-AB’s godfather is also getting married, and so is my brother. So being the lunatic that I am, I’ve already started dreaming of what to wear to the upcoming “I-Do’s.”

And so, if like me you have one or more nuptials on the horizon, perhaps you may benefit from a few of my selections or ideas…

{Fashion Friday} J’adore

“Deep in every heart slumbers a dream and the couturier knows it: every woman is a princess.”- Christian Dior

On my first visit to Paris, when I was 13 years old, I remember standing in front of the Christian Dior flagship. It was Christmastime and the big letters CD were lit up with twinkle lights. My mom looked up and said, “Look, it’s your initials.” I replied, “No, mom, that’s Christian Dior.” That’s the day that I feel in love with the fashion house, and have j’adored following the collections since then.

Well, you can imagine my excitement when I heard that, like Chanel, Dior was going to have a major Harrods moment. It took me weeks to get into see the “So Dior” exhibit, but when I finally did I did not want to leave. It was only fitting to wait to have my mom in London to visit.

The 4th floor of Harrods has been completely transformed into the world of Dior, with some of the most famous dresses worn by Audrey Hepburn, Marion Cotillard, Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, and Princess Diana on display. There are video installations of the Miss Dior and J’dore perfume campaigns, and even an entire stage of miniature Haute Couture recreations.

After spending a significant amount of time drooling over the designs, we had a lovely lunch in the The Dior Café where we each had a delicious watercress salad and champagne.

The perfect afternoon.

{Fashion Friday} Fashionable Phones

Happy first day of March AGs! I can’t believe how fast this year is going already, and I am so excited that spring is right around the corner. Raise your hand if you are in serious need of some SUNSHINE?!

Enough about the weather… I am little slow on the uptake with the whole new iphone thing. I have one of the first ones ever made, which is not so great when I am attempting to start a social media empire (stay tuned). (You can pick-up the new iphone 5 at Carphone Warehouse. They even have a plan right now where you can get a free phone with a £33 per month plan.) Thankfully Mothers Day is right around the corner, because now I have an excuse to ask for a new phone (from the kiddies of course). Instead of focusing on actually getting the phone, I am already debating which cute new case I can get.

It’s an accessory after all…

Maybe it’s because I am in the middle of planning Mini-AG’s third birthday party, but this girly case with pink party food is super sweet. SWASH Let Them Eat Jelly printed iPhone 5 case. Available at Net-a-Porter.
