After Mini-AB was born I wanted to have his feet cast in bronze. I saw a flyer for Philippa Herbert at the Kensington Wing and grabbed it on my way out the door. A few days later Philippa Fergusson, who owns the company with her friend and fellow mom, Sally Herbert came over and began making the clay moulds of my little man’s feet. When she was doing so I noticed her beautiful jewelry- necklaces, charm bracelets, and rings- all of which I thought must have been designer pieces. Upon closer inspection I realized that the jewelry was engraved with fingerprints.
“Oh my gosh! Are those your kid’s fingerprints?!” I squealed. We then spent the next two hours going through all of the chains, charms, and options that you could create using the fingerprints of your little Mini’s. You can pretty much create anything you can dream up using any metal, different colors, and different size and shape charms, with distinctive fonts! I created a charm bracelet, with one charm for Mini-AG (name and date of birth in a girly script) , one for Mini-AB (name and date of birth written in Roman numerals, more masculine I thought!) and one charm that has both mine and my husband’s fingerprints on it. Since I love rose gold, but my watch is yellow gold, Phillipa suggested that we make it a mix of the two metals. I haven’t taken it off since! I also created a necklace with their fingerprints and as an AMAZING Father’s Day gift, got my husband cufflinks- one fingerprint from each child on each cuff. To this day he says that it is one of the best gift’s that he has every gotten.
I realized a few days ago when someone complimented me (it happens a lot!) on my bracelet that I never actually wrote a post about Philippa Herbert! So here you go! I loved working with Philippa to create the bespoke pieces. They are perfect to make for yourself or as a gift, and I couldn’t be more in love with the jewelry we created together.
