American Girl in Chelsea

A chic guide for American women who have relocated to London, England.

{Holidays!} A Christmas Light Switch on, a Camel Procession and a Free Santa’s Grotto

October 16, 2013 | Leave a Comment

The magic of Christmas is set to sparkle in Chelsea on Saturday the 9th November, with a festive celebration like no other. The free event begins in Duke of York Square at 3pm with an exciting range of activities for both children and families to enjoy.

Head to the arts & crafts marquee for free family-friendly activities, brave the cold to catch a glimpse of Chelsea’s real-life camels or pop down to Santa’s Christmas Grotto from 6pm to meet the season’s most popular individual in the flesh. Mr. Claus will be meeting little ones, telling stories, and giving away Christmas sweets to all who visit his cosy workshop.

Additionally, for the second year running, one lucky child will have the chance to be part of the magic and help turn on the Christmas lights that spectacularly illuminate the square on 9th November. The focal point of this beautiful display will be the striking Chelsea Christmas tree in the heart of the square, along with a troop of real-life camels leading the switch-on procession from the top of the King’s Road, down to the square.
