American Girl, Wendy, has asked for a recommendation for brow-shaping! Well, Wendy this has been a bit like the mani/pedi search for me, and here are my thoughts…
First off, I would definitely say not to try just any one willy-nilly for a brow wax. I made the mistake of asking one girl if she could simply “clean them up” and I was left with half of my brows left. Even though it is not as popular in the states, I would definitely say that the way to go in London is threading. If you haven’t tried it yet, it really does get you a very nice arch, and I honestly do not think it is that painful (some of you AG’s may beg to differ!)
Okay, now where to go!? Why not the eyebrow specialists!? Blink have created “brow-bars” around the city and I think they are fantastic. I recently visited the new Blink at Bluebird on the Kings Road and it was lovely. Quick, easy, and a wonderful result. It was the first time (and I have tired A LOT of eyebrow peeps) that I didn’t think “whoops, now I have to let them grow out for another six months before I try somebody else!” Oh and get this- an eyebrow shape is only £17!
Lucky for us AG’s there are a lot of Blink locations as well, including at Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, and in the Westfield shopping center at House of Fraser. So there you are my dear Wendy and all you other American Girls out there- get those brows back in shape!
Cheers! xx

Currently live in NY, moving to London in August. I only get my eyebrows threaded and I've been doing it for 9 years. It's so much better than waxing for many reasons. The only thing I'm worried about is the price in London. It's only $7 here!
Anne Taite says
I'm sure some parts of London would offer it for less expensive. The House of Fraser brow threading bar was 14 pounds the last time I was there. But the service lasts me a good month b/c it provides such a great guideline for me to do some at-home upkeep.
I do have to say that I think it's a wee bit more painful than waxing, but all in the name of beauty, right?

Hi Ashley! I know, London beauty prices can be very silly. Its probably sad, and a sign that I have been here too long, that I think £17 is a steal. I'll keep an eye out for some other options, although NY always seems to be the best at providing beauty services (especially nails) for an affordable price! Cheers! xx AG

A friend of mine goes to the Shavata at Harrod's. No idea how much it is though.
Corina says
Shavata is very expensive, but also very good. If you would like for her to personally do your eyebrows, you’ll have to pay in the region of £37-£40. Her senior eyebrow stylists cost between £2o-£30.

My next question will be about a Brazilian wax…I'll need to find a good place for that eventually. Right now I pay $34 and the woman I go to is great!! I've been going for years so it's going to be hard to say goodbye. Not sure if you have written about this before…just catching up now!
Wendy says
Thanks, AG! I'm glad to have another reason to stop at House of Fraser or perhaps a follow-up trip to Selfridges since the sale is this week!
Keep Americans beautiful!

Minx in Kensington does a fabulous job at threading – as a former New Yorker, I was desperate to find a place that had threading. They were my first and only find.

I've been threading my eye brows for prob almost 10 years and had my favourite spots in NY but really struggled when I moved to London. After 3 years I have finally found somewhere that does a good job and is the most reasonable I've found too! Check out Hunan in Fulham http://www.humangroup.co.uk/

I went to Blink yesterday while checking out the sales at Westfield – they did a great job! Thanks AG!

Hello
Just want to say I stumbled across you site and i am really enjoying it. I moved here three months ago to Knightsbridge, so almost a chelsea girl :). I have somehow managed to stumble across and find some of the places you have mentioned already so we have similar tastes it seems.
Thanks for the Blink for brows tip. I went there and they did a decent job 🙂
An American Girl in Chelsea says
Thanks Sara! Glad you enjoy the site! Knightsbridge is a great place to be! Cheers! xx
Kim says
Thanks for the tips AG, I also highly recommend Kamini in Kensington. She is on the higher end in terms of price, but she is 100% worth it – she has re-trained my eyebrows to the point where she has effectively lifted them! I have spoken to her other customers in the waiting room and she also seems to specialise in fixing those that have had a bad experience elsewhere or have just over-plucked.
An American Girl in Chelsea says
Thanks for the rec Kim! Will definitely try her if I need a massive re-shape!
Cheers! xx
Alannah says
I definatly agree with Kim, Kamini is the best in the Brow business and they do fantastic Brazillians and facials too! I find the results of treatments there last twice as long as when i get treatments done in other places therefore will worth a few extra pounds. I now only need to have my eyebrows done every 3 months!
An American Girl in Chelsea says
Hi Alannah, thanks. I'll will have a try! Cheers! xx
Sara says
I tried Kamini out based on the recommendations above and was very pleased. The service was excellent and I even got to try the airbrush makeup out. I am definitely going to use it for my next big event.

I get my upper lip and eye brows threaded for £4! £17 is ridiculous! They are done well and as I have to go every week paying £17 would be mad. The secret is to go to peoples houses, and not salons, if you have any Indian friends ask them if they know anyone as they will often no someone who is able to do it professionally and cheaply.
