American Girl in Chelsea

A chic guide for American women who have relocated to London, England.

{Eat & Drink/Travel Edition} The China Club, Hong Kong

November 25, 2011 | Leave a Comment

Well, we’ve been in Hong Kong for just over 24 hours and pretty much all we have done is eat and shop. Which is fine, because (a) these are two of my favorite past times and (b) that’s pretty much what you do in HK.  Why am I here you ask? For what is sure to be an extremely lavish and wonderful wedding. (Which will be followed by some beach-time in Thailand.)

Every person whom I spoke with that had been here had the same response, “You must go to China Club.” And so, today we went and majorly indulged in delicious dim sum.

The decor replicates the 1930’s and 40’s in Shanghai and Hong Kong and displays paintings and sculptures from artists from all over China. I loved the history of the place with photos of Princess Diana, among other notable patrons, displayed throughout the restaurant.

Although it’s technically a “members-only” club, it’s just one of those places you where need a great concierge to get in or to know the right person to make a reservation for you.

Everything on the menu was absolutely scrumptious. I loved this dumpling (above) that became soup when broken apart.

This was a wacky little fish bowl in the front of the restaurant….
The China Club is located on the top three floors of the Old Bank of China Building in Hong Kong.
Ok kittens, I am off to bed. I must be up at 6 AM for hair and make-up to attend a traditional Chinese wedding tea ceremony!
