Chelsea has a new breakfast hot-spot, and if you love a hearty healthy meal to start your day you better jump in the queue. Thank goodness Bill Granger, Australian restaurateur and food writer, has finally opened up his famous dining destination in the heart of Chelsea! That’s right ladies, Granger & Co. has hit Pavillion Road and gone are the days of venturing to Notting Hill to get your favorite acai bowl or avocado toast.
Last week I went to try the new restaurant, with what seemed like every stylish mum in the borough. The restaurant has a beautiful hidden courtyard, which is perfect for when London shows us a bit of sun. There’s also a private dining room and the dreamiest pink-retro loos.
But moving on to the important bit, the scrumptious food. My girlfriend ordered the almond-milk chia seed pot with berries, pomegranate and coconut yoghurt. It was light, refreshing and paired perfectly with her matcha latte. There’s a variety of smoothies to choose from and, finding it hard to choose, I asked the server which was the most popular. She brought me the watermelon and lime frappé, which on a hot summer day went down a total treat.
I ordered the acai bowl with banana, berries and vegan granola and it hit the spot, but I couldn’t stop there. I wanted to try even more options on the menu so we ordered the buckwheat bowl to share. Ladies, this is one of the most delicious breakfast plates I have ever eaten. The “Big Plate” comes with buckwheat, poached egg, goat’s yoghurt, rose harissa, avocado and sunflower sprouts. It was the perfect breakfast after a late night out and before a big workout!
A side and personal note about why I love Granger & Co. I feel like I can get my healthy fix, but my Husband would actually eat here as well. I think the soft shell crab, chorizo and kimchi fired rice with poached egg has his name all over it. I find this healthy/hearty/yummy compromise hard to find in London, and I am so happy that Granger ticks all the boxes.
Did someone say “Hair of the Dog?” From 10 AM Granger & Co. will serve bloody marys, white peach bellinis and their aperol sunrise with tequila, aperol passions fruit coconut water and lemon.
This is obviously all about my breakfast experience but Granger also serves lunch and dinner. I’ll keep you posted but the menus look pretty damn delicious.
A word to the wise- Granger & Co. does NOT take rezzies and this place is popular. So prepare to queue for a table. Trust me, it’s worth the wait.
