So, last time I was in Tuscany I was six weeks pregnant and had swine flu- no joke. Hence, this time round I was ready to experience all the magic (and wine) that I had missed out on the first go-round.
Our dear friends were married this bank holiday weekend at Villa Vignamaggio in Greve in Chianti which is where we stayed. The views from this vineyard and winery are breathtaking, and the wedding was beautiful. However, if you are traveling to Tuscany and are planning on staying at a working vineyard- do be aware that there may be a lack of usual hotel amenities such as regular food service.
Where I’d love to stay when we go back is the Villa Bordoni. This little boutique hotel which our friends found on Mr and Mrs Smith (the most amazing boutique hotel directory), was so charming. We had a lovely meal there, and the owners, a very sweet Scottish couple, made us feel right at home.
If you do make it to Chianti you must eat at the Ristoro de Lamole. We had a very yummy meal here, and the service is fantastic. I had a porcini mushroom and truffle carpaccio and a delicious risotto. My favorite thing about this place is that it is located in a tiny little town next to a beautiful church (where the wedding was), and I love listening to the church bells during dinner. My second favorite thing is the bottle of homemade limoncello that is placed on the table for your enjoyment at the end of the meal.
All around, a wonderful second trip to Tuscany! Hope you enjoyed the tips.
