When I first came to London to study in 2003 I arrived with a large amount of luggage and a very important piece of paper which had my hair color formula written on it. I took it to a colorist here and it was almost like I was trying to start a fight.
“If you go THIS blonde, you’re going to be in here every four weeks!? Who wants that type of maintenance!??
I went on to explain that since the age of 14, when I was given my first highlights because I wanted to be blonde like my mom, I have been an addict. It’s sometimes very hard to convince others of this addiction, and get them to help me achieve it.
I’ve been going to Richard Ward for the past 6 years of living here and Thomas and Danielle have been instrumental in helping me achieve my color. I vowed never EVER to let anyone else touch my color. And then I met Despina..
Despina is a senior colorist at Neville Salon in Knightsbridge. The second that I tweeted out that I was seeing her I got responses like “Oh she’s fab, she’s responsible for my great color.” So from the get-go I felt like it was going to be ok. Despina is a sweetheart and talked me through the tint vs highlights situation. I never knew that I had to come in with a substantial amount of regrowth in order to get proper highlights, now I know!
Despina did the color PERFECTLY. The second the blow drier started to heat up I could see the golden blonde start to shine, and once again, all was right with the world.
Now, on to the CUT. If you’re an original reader you know that I used to see James Pryce- you know the guy that pissed of the Princess for plastering her haircut all over the… well everywhere. Since then I’ve been bopping around to different stylists…..ANYWAYS, I was passed along to Stephen at Neville who definitely made me feel in safe hands. You knew when stylists convince you that you NEED a certain look, i.e. bangs, layers, etc? Stephen just gave me the most amazing cut and blow-dry that made me feel like, ME! He also does a load of celebrities.. if you’re into that kind of thing. *wink*
Ok so there’s the story. For a girl who knows her color, I would definitely recommend Despina at Neville, followed by a cut and blow-dry with Stephen.
