American Girl in Chelsea

A chic guide for American women who have relocated to London, England.

{Beauty & Eating} Learning to NOSH…

December 5, 2011 | 1 Comment

Well, I am finally back from my Asia adventure, and if you’ve been following you know that I’ve been doing way too much sampling of the local cuisines. Time to get back on track…
Cooking healthy can be tricky – it’s never filling, it tastes bland, and there are ingredients that can only be found by special mail order.

Thank you, NOSH DETOX, for teaching me otherwise.
I attended one of their cookery classes and came away not only with 5 new recipes for dinner parties, but better educated about food as well.  Held in a private home kitchen with a small group (between 4-8 people), the NOSH cookery classes are more about teaching you about what ingredients to use and how to prepare them rather than merely giving you a recipe and a tasting.
Tatu Bearcroft – one of NOSH’s specialists – demonstrated how to prepare a soup, salad, main, side, and dessert and along the way explained the benefits of each ingredient she put in.
I learned so much about not just food-prep (helpful hint: when cooking chicken, add a little bit of hot water along the way to maintain moisture), but about what foods are good for you (garlic is a superfood), and how to have a healthy relationship with food (hint: chew more!).
The food prepared in the class was tasty, filling, and easy to make as well! And, the best part? All the ingredients are easily found at your local grocery store.

Tabouleh with quinoa, spiced roast vegetables, and chicken breasts in chermoulla sauce

Log on to check out the NOSH cookery classes, and browse the website as well.  Their delivered meals, juice fast, superfood box, and even flight packs (for those AGs who have a long flight back to the States for Christmas) are all great ideas to get us through holiday season.

Have you made your AG Christmas Wish List yet?!
