I had the privilege of meeting the jewelry designer, Pippa Small, last year in her adorable shop in Notting Hill. I immediately fell in love with her beautiful and eclectic designs-and I wanted to buy everything! However, what made me become enthralled in Pippa’s craft was the philanthropic nature of her work.
Pippa has worked on initiatives with indigenous communities such as the San Bushman of the Kalahari, the Batwa Pygmies of Rwanda, and the Kuna in Panama, helping them to research their traditional designs to generate self-sufficiency and income. It is from these expeditions that Pippa chooses the gems, stones, and shells that she turns into amazing art.
Pippa brought her talents to the US last year and has opened up a shop in Los Angeles. Her designs are definitely something to experience, and her story something to admire. You can find her London shop at 11 Colville Mews of Lonsdale Road.
