{A Date for your Diary} THE DECORATIVE ANTIQUES & TEXTILES FAIR

August 30, 2011 | 1 Comment

Hi Girls! After meeting two lovely American interior designers this past weekend, I thought this event sounded really fun to satisfy everyone’s inner interior-decorator…..

THE DECORATIVE ANTIQUES & TEXTILES FAIR
Autumn Event: 27 September-2 October 2011
Battersea Park, London SW11
www.decorativefair.com
The Autumn Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair has 140 exhibitors with the best array yet of decorative and fine antiques and 20th century design, mixed with unusual accessories, desirable objets and works of art from the classical to the contemporary. At this event, you’ll be able to find anything from Russian nesting dolls that are probably KGB-issued to antique light fixtures dating back numerous years. A special foyer selling exhibition, Festival Influences: British Design ‘51 to ’61, loos at how the 1951 Festival of Britain influenced furnishing and design in the following decade. All items will be for sale. The display will feature furniture and accessories drawn from 20th century dealers at the Fair, shown alongside period photographs, textiles and works of art, this is an opportunity to see and buy original 1950s British design. As well as the Festival’s South Bank site, many events took place at the Festival Pleasure Gardens in Battersea Park in 1951, the same location of today’s Decorative Fair.
Much loved by interior design professionals, The Decorative Fair is also a magnet for discerning private buyers seeking unusual statement pieces and accessories to create an individual look in their home. For those unsure about buying antiques, this is the perfect event at which to ‘look and learn’, offering affordable options and a wide variety of styles. It is fun, informal and relaxed, and all are welcome, including families (and even well-behaved dogs!).

This is such a fun event. I went a couple of years ago and got a set of gorgeous etchings.
