Chianti Classico!

So, last time I was in Tuscany I was six weeks pregnant and had swine flu- no joke. Hence, this time round I was ready to experience all the magic (and wine) that I had missed out on the first go-round.

Our dear friends were married this bank holiday weekend at Villa Vignamaggio in Greve in Chianti which is where we stayed. The views from this vineyard and winery are breathtaking, and the wedding was beautiful. However, if you are traveling to Tuscany and are planning on staying at a working vineyard- do be aware that there may be a lack of usual hotel amenities such as regular food service.

Where I’d love to stay when we go back is the Villa Bordoni. This little boutique hotel which our friends found on Mr and Mrs Smith (the most amazing boutique hotel directory), was so charming. We had a lovely meal there, and the owners, a very sweet Scottish couple, made us feel right at home.

If you do make it to Chianti you must eat at the Ristoro de Lamole. We had a very yummy meal here, and the service is fantastic. I had a porcini mushroom and truffle carpaccio and a delicious risotto. My favorite thing about this place is that it is located in a tiny little town next to a beautiful church (where the wedding was), and I love listening to the church bells during dinner. My second favorite thing is the bottle of homemade limoncello that is placed on the table for your enjoyment at the end of the meal.

All around, a wonderful second trip to Tuscany! Hope you enjoyed the tips.

I heart Daniel.

As you may have guessed by know, I am just a little bit of a foodie, and I have been dying to try Daniel Boulud’s new restaurant, Bar Boulud, in the Mandarin Oriental. (Hubby and I are big fans of his Palm Beach and NY restaurants!)

What a great evening! The charcuterie platter that we shared between four of us was absolutely divine, as were the cocktails we ordered with it. I had the “White Cosmopolitan” which was served in a giant martini glass with the most lovely floral ball of ice, and I loved it!

As a main course I had the almond-encrusted dover sole, it was SO delicious! Hubby had the “DBGB Piggie Burger” (a grilled beef patty with BBQ pulled pork, bibb lettuce, green chili mayonnaise, cheddar bun, red cabbage slaw and pommes frites) which he raved about!

We ended our dinner with a cheese platter and a bottle of port, however, the best part of the evening was when Daniel himself came over and chatted with us! He told us all about his Singapore restaurant, and said that on our way to Bali (we’re going next June) to stop by! Ahhhh! I wish!

After all that I am gyming it all week!

Iced Iced Berries…..

Hi there my lovely AGs!

One of my best and oldest friends flew back with me from LA to help with mini-AG on the plane and to help me get back and settled….so I had to take her to one of my favorite restaurants in London as a big thank you treat!

Daphne’s which is located in South Kensington is part of the same restaurant group as The Ivy, J. Sheekey, and Le Caprice (to name a few). I’ve tried them all, and I have to say Daphne’s always comes up on top. I find the setting so warm and romantic (we’ve celebrated our anniversary there a couple of times), and the service is always stellar (which less face it- is rare for London!)

What to order: The beef carpaccio is to die for, and my girlfriend swears by the burratta (a yummy cheese served with San Marzano and focaccia) to start. If you’re going to go all out you can get a starter, a portion of pasta, and then a main, but I always do a starter and small pasta (I love the different risotto’s, but this time I went for the shrimp and courgette tagliatelle) so I can order dessert- the iced berries served with warm white chocolate sauce- AMAZING!!! Hint: If they don’t have it on the menu, just ask for it!

So if you’re still in the city this August, book a table!

Meet Miss Trish!

Hey AGs!

After a long flight, I am back from Los Angeles, yipeee! It feels good to be home!

I just received this invite in my inbox and I had to share. I love love Trish McEvoy make-up, mainly for their eye shadows and powder eye-liner, which is so easy to apply. I also tend to revamp my kit with one of those adorable quilted cases whenever a new color strikes my fancy!

If you ladies are around, you should definitely make an appointment to meet this make-up master!

Cheers! xx
