On Friday evening I was invited to a screening of the new movie, “We Bought a Zoo” with Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson. While very predictable, this is a great film for every family member. It is emotional, poignant, funny, and chock full of cute animals.
If you hadn’t guessed by the title of the film, Matt Damon’s character buys a zoo and is determined to open it. As a single father, he does everything in his power to make this happen, despite tons of obstacles. As AGs who have moved to a different country and faced lots of challenges (changing jobs, finding a new flat, making new friends), I figured we can relate.
“Where are you going with this AG?!”
Well, we all could use a feel good movie like this one to remind us that we can do anything we set our minds to!
Here, watch the trailer…
Sweet. Inspiring. And totally feel good.
OK, so now it’s your turn to tell ME about that huge, fun, life-challenging dream you’ve always had.
Leave a comment below, and I will choose one reader at random. Then 20th Century Fox will treat one of you girls to a Detox Package at a Dove Spa (there are multiple London locations) including a full body scrub, detox wrap, and a brightening mini-facial! The contest ends two weeks from today.
I have always wanted to open a Mom and Pop store selling local food, honey, jams, pickled goods, meats, brews, ice cream and whatnot. Ideally it would be in an old wooden building with a long wide front porch and used, creaky rocking chairs for kids eating drippy ice cream on a summer evening. If I could really dream, we would also have a small area in the back of the store with a few round table and an BBQ pit out back for fresh veg and meat sandwiches. While I'm at it I might as well have picnic tables so when the weather is nice people can sit outside. My family and I would live above the shop and of course have a shop dog, a black lab. I am sure it would be a lot of work, long hours and financially difficult but it sounds wonderful to me, perhaps too perfect, but I suppose that is what a BIG dream is.

My big dream is to be satisfied with both my career and personal life. As vague as that sounds, I feel like it is such a hard thing to do!
