American Girl in Chelsea

A chic guide for American women who have relocated to London, England.

{Shopping} BE ORIGINAL. SUPPORT DESIGNERS.

May 8, 2012 | Leave a Comment

So it’s officially spring, you’ve just blown obscene amounts of money on your new wardrobe, and you are running out of ways to justify more shopping. (Aside from the fact that you haven’t been able to wear anything yet because of this WEATHER!!!!)
Don’t worry, I just found one.
SilkFred.com is a new luxury retail website that specializes in independent brands, up-and-coming designers, and innovative trends. All the designers featured on their website have been hand-picked, funded and nurtured by SilkFred. The team scouts for new talent anywhere from London Fashion Week to graduate showcases, ensures that their collections are at a luxury standard, and then gives them the resources necessary to flourish in the fashion industry.
You read that right, this is shopping for a cause.
On their website, each collection is placed alongside the designer’s profile which gives a brief outline of their life and inspiration allowing you to get a glimpse into the genius that went behind your favorite pieces. So, go buy a fabulous dress that no one has yet, help a young designer become the next Alexander Wang, and experience the bliss that comes with guilt-free shopping. Kind of.
Here are a few of my favs…
Deborah Courtoy
It’s May, put away your wool coats and pull out your sunglasses. This yellow blazer is the perfect lightweight jacket for the warm days to come. Hopefully.

Katharine Harrison
Feel like channelling your inner Brigitte Bardot? Pair this ensemble with winged eyeliner and a tousled pouf and you’ll be St. Tropez chic.

Deborah Courtoy
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. The dress really speaks for itself.

Go on, tell me what you LOVE from SilkFred!
