I’ve been dealing with a few health issues of late, but I’n not going to bore you with that. What I do want to let you girls know about is the Urgent Care Centre at Princess Grace. Why? Because, if you’ve ever had any type of emergency, you’ve probably wound up in A&E. AND, if your experiences have been anything like mine, it means hours upon hours of waiting to see a doctor who is probably just going to tell you to take a paracetamol and go see your GP. Forget it if you have to do any type of blood-test, x-rays, etc.
When I needed somewhere to go where I could see a doctor FAST- including get tests and x-rays done, I was told about the Princess Grace Urgent Care Centre. It is basically a small, clean emergency room with doctors that really know their stuff. It is private, obviously, which means it is self-pay for the urgent care services, but then if you are referred on to a consultant/specialist, you can get reimbursed by your insurance company for the follow-on care.
The Urgent Care Centre is open from 8AM-10PM, and the average waiting time is 15 minutes. I was seen by a doctor within 10 minutes of arriving, and had x-rays done within an hour. One disadvantage, sorry moms, is that they don’t see children under 16, so you’re stuck with A&E or if the condition is not super scary you can try the Portland Children’s Doc Around the Clock if you’re dealing with something in the middle of the night.
After a brief stay in Urgent Care, I was admitted to Princess Grace, and also have to say that the hospital is wonderful. Great staff. Super clean, on-demand movies, and even a wine-list (only in England!)
