{Practical Tid-Bits} Thanksgiving Day Round Up.

November 19, 2012 | 3 Comments

I can’t believe its our FIFTH Thanksgiving while living in London. You know what they say about time flying when you’re having FUN!

In case you are new to the blog and/or are still strapped for ideas about this week, here are some of my helpful hints about Thanksgiving in London.

For those of you hosting:

Partridges: If you haven’t discovered them already, they have an American section of all the things you won’t be able to find at Waitrose. Perfect for finding canned pumpkin.

Whole Foods: What more can I say. Now that my favorite grocery store is in London, you’re able to find most everything you need to prepare the perfect Turkey dinner. I would suggest placing orders if you need some of the big ticket items, aka your turkey. (Side note, I just found out they are opening a branch in Fulham. Couldn’t be more excited.)

Baker and Spice: This is where I get my pumpkin pies every single year. Super yum. Order in advance.

For those of you going out:

Plenty of restaurants have caught on to the fact that there are A LOT of us Americans here, and so there are a lot of restaurants that are offering a Thanksgiving day menu. The best option that I’ve seen this year is the Thanksgiving day menu at Bar Boulud. Not only is it one of our favorite restaurants in London, the cost for dinner is only £25, which means you can spurge on a great bottle of wine.

For those of you NOT taking the day off:

UNFORTUNATELY, Thanksgiving is not a holiday here which means most people have to work. For those of you that don’t have time to fully celebrate, bake these delicious pumpkin muffins the night before and have an impromptu thanksgiving day breakfast!

Hiya! I’ve heard some Waitrose shops in London do stock canned pumpkin but haven’t seen any at my local shop. Have you seen canned pumpkin at any Waitroses or other shops in Southwest London? Prefer not to go into Whole Foods this close to Thanksgiving if I can help it, as I guess it’ll be packed with loads of other Americans who have put off purchasing Thanksgiving ingredients until the last minute. That, or all the Gobble Day ingredients will be sold out. Anyway, please let me know if you’ve found canned pumpkin at any other stores nearby. Thanks, and have a happy Thanksgiving!
