American Girl in Chelsea

A chic guide for American women who have relocated to London, England.

My little Royal Wedding Brunch…

April 30, 2011 | 10 Comments

Hey ladies. I hope you had an amazing day yesterday celebrating the wedding of the decade! Here’s a little glimpse of what I did…..
A casual brunch at home.
I wanted a small group so I could actually focus on TV coverage….

And when “The Kiss” was over,
Off to the pub…..

No photos of the post-pub party hopping unfortunately.

And NOW, my thoughts…

I adored the second dress….

I think Pippa stole the show…

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice… even though dressed in Vivienne Westwood and Valentino… TRAIN-WRECK! How have these girls not hired a royal stylist?

Will and Kate are an adorable, down to earth couple, who are going to be super fun to watch!

Now, when is she going to get knocked-up?!

{All Royal photos from the Daily Mail}

What did you ladies think?

Post Edit: Had to add this silliness…. ha!

Kate is gorgeous but the bridal bouquet was a bit sad- bulk it up. Pippa is hot and Harry is handsome and cheeky. The maple trees were fabulous but I've been there and done that tree thing with a wedding last summer so I was hoping to see some hot new trend. Victoria Beckham had the best hat in the house and I'm still stunned that Mrs. Cameron showed up hatless. Love that the bridesmaids were all in white and love love loved Kate's evening dress.

    Hi Erika,

I totally agree on the bouquet. I don't mind it small, but it did look a little sad.

I also thought it would have been nice to see some blossoms on the trees in Westminster.

What do we think about the fact (even though she did look hot) that Pippa wore white? Not sure I am that into it.

I didn't mind that Pippa was wearing white because she matched the smaller girls. Not sure what other color she could have gotten away with. I loved Kate's look…everything was flawless. I agree the bouquet could have been bulked up a bit and maybe more flowers in Westminster in general.

As much as I loved Kate's evening dress, I'm still not sold on the fuzzy cardigan/shrug. It wasn't formal enough. Everything else about her was fabulous, especially her hair! I'm glad she kept it natural with a lot of volume for the evening. James did a wonderful job!

And I think it goes without saying that Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie looked like Cinderella's wicked step-sisters!

    Hi Victoria,

I was thinking she would have looked nice in maybe, like champagne or something?

I hear you on the angora sweater but I still thought her evening look was FAB. And the bejeweled belt was young and fun!

James did do a FAB job!

What do we think about the fact that Kate did her own make-up? Press is saying “over-kill” on the eyeliner?

    xx

I loved the top half of Kate's dress, but not the bottom half! However, I do think in terms of being a true fashion icon, Kate made the right choice choosing Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, because now the fashion world will take her seriously whereas before they thought she was too sloaney…Kate needs the fashion critics on her side as they are so harsh!

I loved both of Kate's dresses, but at first I thought that the second dress was the first dress minus the lace overthing and the train, plus the belt. Either way, they were modern but classic, and I'm sure David's Bridal will have the “Kate,” “Catherine,” “Duchess,” and/or “Pippa” dresses available any day now.

I once heard that bridesmaids should wear white because of an old belief that evil spirits would get confused over who was the bride. Hence, Pippa's color choice. And yes, she looked amazing!

It was amazing to be in London for the wedding – hopefully Harry's will be soon!

What a fab day! We felt so special to be in London witnessing such a special occasion. I have to say I was luke-warm on both of Kate's dresses though! I must admit that I didn't like the evening gown and sweater/cardigan at all, but thought the Sarah Burton dress was very elegant and conservative, I suppose very appropriate. Her earrings were just ok, and her make-up could have been better!! She looked tired!! I loved Prince William's outfit though. How regal!! A lovely and happy day nonetheless! I also thought Victoria Beckham stole the show! Super stylish and gorgeous!

Hi Chelsea Girl. Yes I agree about dress 1, there was a weird juxtaposition between the top half and the bottom. The silhouette does look very beautiful in all of the pictures though.

Wendy, yes can't wait for the knock-offs! Good to know about the evil spirits too.

Anonymous, yeah I am still a bit confused on the make-up. She did a fantastic job for having done it herself, but I thought the eye-liner was a little heavy. Posh and Becks did look fab too. So excited that they are having a baby girl!

    Cheers. xx

The amount of love romance sincerity and intimacy maintained throughout so much hype and media blew me away. I loved how Kate, Pippa and the boys all looked so happy, healthy, and genuinely excited and honoured to be there. What a powerful scene up the isle. In the words of the Bishop, every wedding's a royal wedding, I loved that. What fun seeing the world excited. Ms. AGiC you definitely had me feeling like royalty getting to celebrate with you and share such a beautiful and special day! Thank you, and as always, loving your work here! xx

Loved watching the royal wedding! I thought Kate looked beautiful and just love how she enhances her natural beauty and exudes understated elegance. Loved her hair for the wedding and the reception – simple but elegant and most of all still looked like herself on her big day! Classic, love love love!

Loved that she chose Sarah Burton… I agree with lots of the comments here… I liked the top half more than the bottom but I think that goes with the conservative look she has to keep in mind – or queenie will say off with her head! haha j/k I'm sure she could've rocked a more sleek silhouette and looked amazing.

I think Pippa looked amazing minus a too much tan! yikes. Didn't mind the all white since everyone was in white and I think it speaks to Kate being confident and down to earth if she's cool with her sister wearing the same color. Also, maybe she would've stood out too much in a color? So I think overall it was a nice touch to just keep it all simple in white.

Ahhh to be royal, what an event!
    xx
