I have always loved photography and I remember spending hours looking at family photo albums of my brother, sister, parents, grandparents and I when we were growing up. I take photos of little darling all the time and store them on my computer, and one day (if I ever have the time!) I hope to put them all into albums, so that little darling will have the same enjoyment as I did looking back at his childhood.
Sometimes it is wonderful to have someone else capture portrait images of you and your family, so as a special treat recently, we were invited along to meet and be photographed by the award-winning lifestyle photographer Julia Boggio. Julia says, “We want you to feel like a superstar. Which is why our photography sessions always feel like magazine shoots for Vogue or Vanity Fair. The results? Stunning photographs which wouldn’t look out of place hanging in a chic London gallery.”
Our photo shoot took place in Julia’s fabulous studio (although she is just as happy to come and photograph you at home), and we felt instantly at ease, as Julia is so warm and friendly. With a nursery rhyme soundtrack playing in the background, Little Darling was in his element leaping around the studio playing with all the colourful toy props, and we really did feel like we were just having a fun family morning together, as opposed to endless posing for shots!
The week after our photo session, we were invited to view our photos with Julia’s husband James, and were made to feel super special all over again! We sat on a comfy sofa, looking at a huge plasma screen whilst each photo was shown to us one by one, and we had to decide which ones we liked and which ones we didn’t (this was hard as we liked pretty
much all of them!).
There was also a treasure chest of toys, and a small screen playing kids movies to keep Little Darling entertained so we could properly concentrate on the photos. We were then cleverly shown images on the screen of how our photos would look displayed in a variety of different picture frame formats, and invited to choose which one would suit our home best. It is this attention to detail and the distinctly personal touch of ‘Julia-and-James’ which made the whole experience so memorable and unique.
