The American Women’s Club
If you’re looking to get connected with some other Americans in London- AG recommends seeking out some expatriate clubs! The American Women’s Club (AWC) has a wide variety of groups within it including the “Under 35’s,” “The Business Women’s Group,” and events such as “Chicks for Flicks” and “London Walks.” AG’s personal favorite event is “Dining In” where one American lady hosts a dinner party in her home each month. It’s a great way to meet new people! If you enjoy your vino, the “Under 35’s” even have a trip planned to Vinopolis this coming month, which sounds fab!
Last summer, AG attended the AWC Fourth of July Dinner Dance at the Henley Royal Regatta. It was so fun to have a great group of people to celebrate the 4th with, and Henley, was such a neat event to experience. (Check out info for this year’s Regatta in the Diary Section.)
Kensington and Chelsea Women’s Club, Junior League
If you feel like giving back to the community, great clubs to check out are the Kensington and Chelsea Women’s Club or the Junior League of London. Both are very active with local charities and have a very strong reputation in the city.
Republicans Abroad, Democrats Abroad
Politically minded American Girls will want to check out either Republicans Abroad UK or Democrats Abroad. Republicans Abroad hold a monthly pub night where you can gather round and chat politics over your favorite drink!
University Alumni Groups, Sorority Chapters
Finally, a lot of Universities have alumni groups in London- so do some googling to find out if your school has one. AG went to a fabulous “Day at Wimbledon” event last summer with the USC London Alumni Club, and met some fellow Trojans. Additionally, if you were in a sorority in college, a lot of houses have alumni groups that meet in London. Once again it’s up to you to google.
Now get out there and enjoy meeting other lovely American Girls in London!

Thanks so much for sharing all of this wonderful information – I wonder if you can recommend any book clubs and such – or socializing get-togethers that are not so formalized and catering to newly arrived, independently employed, creative people who work from home…for example I am a designer & would love to meet others in creative fields without the networking aspect.
