American Girl in Chelsea

A chic guide for American women who have relocated to London, England.

Have you been Shellaced?

Hi girls,

Hope you all had a nice Easter weekend. I had such a lovely weekend with family and friends soaking up the sunshine! LOVING the fact that this is a three day work-week too. Thanks Wills and Kate!

Ok, so my tip for you today is all about the SHELLAC! It kinda sounds like something Charlie Sheen would do- but its actually all about chip-free nails. I am obsessed.

Most gel-based polishes I have tried or seen look like puffy paint to me, but not with shellac. It goes on just like regular nail polish, and dries instantly under UV light. Gone are the days of having to wait 20 minutes to have your nails dry only to screw them up searching through your bag….

AND, the best part is that it lasts for 2 weeks. One downside, if your nails grow fast, the growth can be noticeable next to the polish. The other- it’s £35- so very pricey for a manicure, although if you go every week for a normal manicure, it makes sense to try.

Shellac is available at Nail Spa locations. I frequent the South Ken one.
