{Eat & Drink} No reason to cry over spilled champagne at Blummyz…

April 20, 2012 | 1 Comment

I’m BACK!
Last night was my first venture out for dinner since Mini-AB was born and Husband and I decided to stay local. I had heard really great things about the new Blummyz Restaurant on Hollywood Road so we snagged a table after a quick tipple at Brinkleys.
We sat down for an early reservation at 7PM and ordered two glasses of champagne. The waiter very sweetly brought them over and said that they were complimentary. Unfortunately, one of the glasses was then spilled all over the Husband, and we were never brought a replacement.
Then the food came, and we forgot all about our spilled bubbles…
The cuisine, which is a French/Italian blend, is just wonderful. We had a lot of trouble choosing what we wanted off the menu. The wood-burning pizza oven on display was beckoning me – restaurant equipment like a pizza oven can really help create more authentic food for those looking for a true Mediterranean culinary experience – but I had to go with beef carpaccio because my ability to eat raw food has been on lock down for the past 9 months. It was delish!
I followed my starter with a mushroom and truffle risotto (if you’re a regular reader, you probably think I am getting pretty predictable) and finished with a chocolate fondant with pistachio ice cream. Everything that we tried was an absolute dream! I can not recommend the food more highly.
The one thing that I will say is that Blummyz is still working out the kinks. Other than the spilled champagne, the service was a bit slow which was strange because we were the only two people in the restaurant for the first two hours. However, I only see good things for this addition to Hollywood Road.
Verdict: Ignore the kinks, and go for the food!
