American Girl in Chelsea

A chic guide for American women who have relocated to London, England.

{Eat & Drink} Hidden gem on Holbein…

November 7, 2011 | 3 Comments

One of my best friends swears by Como Lario, so much so that she rented out the entire restaurant for her engagement party. I unfortunately missed the soirée, but finally was able to sample the delicious Italian for a Sunday lunch yesterday.

Located just off Pimlico Road, seconds from Sloane Square on Holbein Place, Como Lario is casual in decor but exquisite in cuisine. The restaurant was packed for a Sunday afternoon, always a good sign, and from the second the starters arrived I knew my girlfriend hadn’t led us astray.

Husband’s starter
Risotto Como Lario
Carnaroli rice cooked with wild mushrooms and wrapped in Parma ham

My starter, literally one of the most yummy things I have ever eaten!
Carciofi con Radicchio
Fresh artichoke hearts sliced and mixed with red chicory lettuce parmesan cheese and truffle olive oil

Ok, so I got much too distracted with all of the deliciousness (and good company!) that I forgot to snap pictures of the rest of the meal. But I enjoyed spaghetti with garlic, olive oil and chili for my main course, and vanilla ice cream covered in espresso for dessert.

So next time you’re shopping in Sloane Square, or need a new place for date night, check out this hidden gem.
Boun Appetito!

Artichoke, parmesan and truffle oil – sounds like heaven to me! Will save this place for next time I'm in London. Thanks for the tip!
