There’s definitely a foody buzz in the air around Chelsea. Up until recently, there wasn’t a ton of variety when it came to having a nice meal out in the area, or at least there hasn’t been anything new and exciting for a while. All of a sudden I feel like we actually have an incredible array of options, and in addition to The Cross Keys, Ivy Chelsea Garden, Kurobuta, we now have Gordon Ramsay’s maze Grill.
maze Grill feels like a grill room from NYC, but there’s actually a lot more to it. If you are a steak fan then the restaurant specialises in rare-breed prime steaks from fillet to rib-eye and triple-seared wagyu, all perfectly dry-aged in a Himalayan salt brick-lined aged chamber so that they taste delicious. More excitingly for me, there’s also an incredible sushi and salad selection.
I popped into the restaurant with a girlfriend last Friday night, and the second I saw the steak selection I knew this would be the perfect place to take my Husband for his birthday. Before making that reservation I tried the Tuna Tartare sushi roll (probably one of the most yummy things EVER), the California Roll (I know it sounds boring, but just trust me on this one) and the Kale Salad, Butter Lettuce Salad, and Parmesan Cauliflower Salads. The salads come in small portions so they are perfect for sharing! When I knew I could get this kind of meal, all while my husband had a giant steak and chips, I was sold.
Upon leaving I rebooked to come back the next day, and our celebratory lunch did not disappoint. I basically reordered exactly what I had the night before, and as predicted, my Husband had a steak which he called “perfect” with a beer and a side of the most sinful looking onion rings I’ve ever seen. Everybody wins.
maze Grill is open all day, seven days a week and from 10am at the weekends for a leisurely brunch or a classic Sunday roast.
