American Girl in Chelsea

A chic guide for American women who have relocated to London, England.

{Eat & Drink} Drinking & Dining at 51.

June 27, 2012 | 1 Comment

Okay ladies, the fabulous five-star 51 Buckingham Gate Hotel has finally finished its renovations which can only mean one thing: cocktails in the Hamptons Bar!
A few weeks ago, I was invited to the hotel for a dine around press event to see the fabulous renovations and try out all their yummy dishes! It began with their signature cocktail “The 51”, which is a essentially a Grey Goose martini with an orange peel instead of olives. The citrus flavors give the classic drink an exotic twist.

We were then led out to the courtyard for champagne and canapés. The courtyard at 51 Buckingham Gate is one of London’s hidden gems. Between the babbling fountain, gorgeous flowers, and excellent service it is one of those places where lazy afternoons must be spent!
The main course was served in Bistro 51, the hotel’s main restaurant. The restaurant has an atmosphere that is the perfect balance of contemporary and warm. For dinner, I enjoyed the red snapper with mashed sweet potatoes, sun dried tomatoes and fried lettuce.

For dessert, I had the tiramisu which is probably the best I’ve ever had in London.

I seriously suggest you AGs pop along to 51 Buckingham Gate to spend a relaxing afternoon in the courtyard with some champagne and your favorite girlfriends.

The courtyard looks fab for drinks! As soon as I can (I'm pregnant now so not much use for cocktails…), will give it a go. Thanks for a great blog btw. I'm not American but an American friend sent me the link 🙂
