The second I walked into Harvey Nichols 5th floor champagne bar on Saturday morning, the bartender looked at me and said “you look familiar.” The Husband laughed out loud. Appears I show my face too often in the fab bar on top of my favorite department store. Whoops.
ANYWAYS, I complain all the time we are both rubbish at making cocktails and that I would love to be able to make good tipples at parities, so as a Valentines Day gift he surprised me with the Harvey Nichols Cocktail Masterclass.
The Masterclass begins at 9:30 with a light brekkie, and follows by a hilarious lecture by the head-bartender, Stani Visciano. Stani made the whole experience so fun, and I traded more then one high-five with him during his talk! He starts off by teaching you the very basics of mixolgy, and then the best part, you get to sample them. After his demonstrations he invites all the attendees behind the bar to make a cocktail of their choice on the menu. Our course was the “Classics”, but there are additional courses including sparkling wine cocktails, martinis and mojitos. I was really excited because our course included a cosmopolitan, which I decided I am bringing back!
After making friends behind the bar, we were led to the 5th floor restaurant where we were treated to a two course lunch, and a glass of wine. This was a lot of drinking before noon, so I recommended leaving time to nap afterwards. Next on the agenda is purchasing all of the proper bar tools, and then planning a cocktail party!
This would be really fun as a bridal shower, birthday party, or to give as a gift! Tickets cost £60 per person, including tasting and lunch, and the places fill up FAST! For reservation enquiries, contact the Fifth Floor Restaurant on 020 7235 5250 or email reception@harveynichols.com.

We enjoyed it but found it was our group that made it fun. Stani was pretty tedious actually, with his sexist and homophobic comments.
The price was reasonable value.
