Last night the Husband and I ventured into Mayfair to test out the trendy Novikov restaurant. A stone’s throw from the Mayfair Hotel, the Russian-owned restaurant has two separate dining options, Asian or Italian. As you know, two of the things I miss the most from California are sushi and sunshine and so we opted for the Asian side.
Upon entering Novikov, we were given a brief tour of the fresh fish and vegetables that we were able to choose for our meal. The concept is simple, you can choose your seafood and vegetables and how you want them prepared straight from the display, or you can pick from the menu.
We sat down and ordered cocktails and a bottle of wine (as you do on your night off from the kids!). The bartender will make you any cocktail you can dream up, but I stuck with my favorite, a French Martini, which was perfect. Then it was time for some tough decisions, how in the world could we choose what to eat, everything looked so yum!
From the market,
to the kitchen…
and finally, on our plate!
We decided on a few maki rolls, some sashimi, and then we obviously had to try some of these delicious veggies…

The fish and veggie presentation is just gorgeous! We definitely don’t have that in LA!
