American Girl in Chelsea

A chic guide for American women who have relocated to London, England.

{Eat and Drink} Chiltern is on Fire.

You’re probably sick of reading about Chiltern Firehouse, but I am finally sitting down to put in my two-cents in about the hottest new restaurant in town. Last weekend we had a table of four booked for an early reservation. We had drinks in the bar beforehand. We arrived about 6PM and the bar was already majorly buzzing and we barely got a seat. We wanted to sit outside at first, but the keeper of the terrace/hostess told us it was way over capacity.

Here’s the thing about Chiltern, yes, you’ll probably see a celebrity (Adele was there when we were) and yes the food is AMAZING. Leave it to André Balazs and Nuno Mendes. There is a nibbles menu that you CAN NOT pass up. The crab doughnuts and cauliflower with truffle oil were life changing, and such a great alternative boring old bread. Next time I go, I want to order them ALL!

I had the asparagus appetizer and the steak tartare spiced with chipotle, both were delicious. I shared the roast chicken with my husband for a main, and I wished that I had ordered my own. The service is also great, and not at all snooty which is what one expects from these cant-get-a-table-for-5-years type of place. We ended our meal with espresso martinis (well us girls did) instead of dessert. It was a completely enjoyable evening, and I would recommend going, but definitely don’t get stressed out about not getting a reservation, because hopefully things will settle down soon.

Can’t get a reservation? Try an early time, or lunch. Hopefully when everyone heads out of town for August there will be more booking availability!
